Thorntonloch House lies to the east of the old fishing town of Dunbar, the birthplace of the famous conservationist John Muir. We are easily accessed from the A1 and are only 4 miles from Dunbar and the main east coast railway.
From it's elevated position over Thorntonloch Bay, it affords superb panoramic views across the North Sea toward St Abbs marine conservation site. It is the ideal tranquil and secluded location, without being too remote, for those relaxing "get away from it all" short breaks allowing you to unwind, or for a more extended holiday.
The Dunbar to Dunglass section of the John Muir Walkway passes with 300 metres, while the Southern Upland Way finishes within approx 3 kms of the house.
If golf is your 'bag' the testing 18 hole Dunbar Golf Club is a mere 4 kms down the road. The house is both comfortable and spacious throughout and our south-facing conservatory with its sea views is the perfect place to relax with a coffee and book. Click here for information
All the rooms are spacious, have en-suite, and television. There are tea and coffee making facilities and thermostatically controlled radiators in each room.
We also have a well appointed lounge exclusively for the use of our guests.
Breakfast is served in the downstairs dining room. As well as the traditional and continental breakfast options (all grilled in the Aga) we also offer the alternative of Scottish smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. Plentiful tea and coffee is served.
